Connecting to the Windows Server

Connecting with Off Campus
- To connect to the Windows Server on campus, you will need to use ArchPass. If you are not familiar with it, you can click for instructions here
- I do the following to access ArchPass:
- You can install it using the following instructions.

- I use the ArchPass Duo app on my smartphone and click allow. You will then get a message and/or notification on your computer that you are connected or not connected by VPN to UGA. If you have a lot of trouble, I recommend contacting EITS by this link.
Connecting Remote Desktop Windows on Windows 10
- Microsoft remote desktop is already part of Windows 10 and does not need to be installed on Windows.
- In the windows search, type "Remote Desktop Connection."
- Click the selection that says, "Remote Desktop Connection App."
- Under computer, put in 128.192.148.254 and under user name put the name that you were assigned such as Student1, Student2, etc.

- Under the Display tab:
- Set the display configuration to 1920 by 1080 pixels.[1]
- Please set the color depth of the remote session to Highest Quality (32-bit).
- It should look something like:

- Click the + by Drives.
- Select a drive that you would like the server to have access to like C:\
- Click

- If you are able to connect, a dialog will come up asking you if you trust this connection. Click
again.
- If everything is working well, you should get the following dialog:

- Put in your password and click the OK button at the bottom. You can also check Remember me, so that you do not have to remember the password.
- The Windows session will take a few minutes the first time that you log in to set everything up.
- The Window will be partly cut off, so use the maximize button on the upper right to get the window to occupy the entire screen.
- You can access your computer as a network drive.
- Click the MestReS icon on your desktop to run MestReS. The icon will look like:
- You are now ready to run the tutorials.
Connecting Remote Desktop Windows on Mac OS
- My system is a MacOS Monterrey and an M1 ARM. If your Mac as an Intel processor, you will have an easier time.
- Click the Application Store:
- In the Application Store, search for Microsoft Remote Desktop. The program is Free.
- Click the

- You might have to type in your Itunes password. Once you have successfully done that, you will see

- I always click Not now under the big button, but that is your preference.
- Click the

and you will get a similar dialog. Click
again. 1. If everything is working correctly, you get the following window:

- In this dialog, put the following:
- PC Name: 128.192.148.254[2]
- Add your user account.
- Once you are done, it should look like:

- Under the display tab, change the following parameters:
- Resolution: 1920 x 1080
- Check Fit Session to Window
- Click Folders tab. Under this dialog, you can specify folders on your computer that will be accessible to the remote Windows server.

- To connect[2], you just double click the connection that you made:

- You can find a link to your folder (Desktop in my example) under network drives.
- Double click the symbolic link to MestReS, which is the Desktop of the Windows Server. It looks like:
